May 26-29Memorial Day WeekendOur Veterans deserve our respect and admiration year round, but Memorial Day is the time to reflect on their sacrifices for our freedom. We must never forget what they have done to provide us with the freedoms and liberties we enjoy. Memorial Day Weekend at Put-in-Bay is a great place to enjoy time with friends and family and remember past and present Military. At Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial there will be the annual "Salute the Troops" event where a ceremony shows deference to these great men and women. This is a very popular weekend on Put-in-Bay and is known to sell out rather quickly. If you are planning in joining us for the unofficial start to the high season of tourism on PIB, we recommend that you make your reservations early.
May 26-4Ohio Bike Week's "Rally on the Rock"The North Coast Thunder Rally or Ohio Bike Week is held during the week of Memorial Day Weekend. This event began in 1999 and has grown to one of the largest motorcycle rally of its kind in the Midwest. Bikers flock from all corners of our great country to frolic on the shores of beautiful Lake Erie. The primary location of this event is Sandusky, but a great number opt to board their bikes on the Miller Ferry for a cruise around Put-in-Bay. Bikers discovered that they were close to such an amazing place as PIB and included the island in their itinerary. There are a variety of events that coincide with this week including a pig roast with donations being taken for St. Jude's Hospital and a scavenger hunt around the island on motorcycles. Be sure to include Put-in-Bay in your travels during your trip to the North Coast for Ohio Bike Week!

JUNE 2017

June 443rd Annual Jose DeRivera Founders Day CelebrationWay back in 1854 Jose DeRivera purchased six islands in Lake Erie, one of which being our beloved Put-in-Bay. He proceeded to have South Bass Island plotted in 10 acre parcels for development. He donated a 5 acre area for the beautiful DeRivera Park that is the prominent feature of downtown Put-in-Bay. Jose also donated the land that would become the first school and church. Wisely, he opened the largest cave on PIB as a tourist attraction and the masses have been visiting ever since. Each year we commemorate the founding of our beautiful island. There will be vendors setting up in DeRivera park offering tasty treats and souvenirs. The Put-in-Bay EMT's will be present with the miniature Life Flight offering children a chance to ride. St. Paul's Episcopal Church will have Strawberry Shortcake and Mother of Sorrows Church will have Pulled Pork Sandwiches that are sure to delight. Stop out to celebrate the founding of Put-in-Bay during the Founders Day Celebration.
June 8-1123rd Annual Phlocking of the PhaithfulThis is our annual Jimmy Buffet tribute weekend and most island businesses decorate and hold special events for the "parrot heads" who flock to the island. It's a little known fact, but the "Phlocking of the Phaithful" is the second oldest continuously running Parrot Head and Trop Rock event in the country! Mr. Ed's Bar & Grille and the Commodore Resort is the host location and homebase for the weekend's festivities. To get the full experience, guests need to register at the Phlocking Website where you can find more information about all the goodies you get with your Phlocking registration.
June 92017 Invitational Mills Trophy RaceThe Mills Trophy Race is the premier sailing race on Lake Erie and is sponsored by the Toledo Yacht Club. It began in 1907 as a test of navigational skills on Lake Erie. The race has been held nearly every year since then and is unique in that it is raced at night. Although the race was originally configured as a triangle beginning and ending at the Toledo Yacht Club, since 1981 the race has begun at the harbor light and ended here at Put-in-Bay. That makes it a 35+ year tradition for the Put-in-Bay Yacht Club being involved. Come visit the island this weekend and see hundreds of sailing ships lining the docks in downtown Put-in-Bay.

June 10Put-in-Bay Pooch ParadeThis long time island event begins with registration at 10:00 AM at the DeRivera Park gazebo, and the parade begins promptly at 10:30. Registration is $10 per dog and entitles your best friend to receive a doggie goodie bag and compete for prizes. Judges will determine the cutest, smallest, largest, most talented, individual best dressed, group best dressed, and dog that look most like its owner. This is always a great family event sponsored by Mother of Sorrows church. No cats allowed.
June 11Perry's Victory Triathlon, Duathalon & Family Races at Put-in-BayPut-in-Bay is a superb setting for an event such as this. Hop across Lake Erie via the Jet Express for a day of fitness and fun. There are a variety of events available to accommodate a variety of participants. The namesake of this event, Oliver Hazard Perry, would surely be delighted at the fun and camaraderie that surrounds this event. Take in the scenic shoreline of Put-in-Bay while aiming to set a new personal best time. Families are encouraged to take part in the more casual races to promote a healthy lifestyle and well-being. This race is being conducted by All Sports Fundamentals, the founder of which grew up right on beautiful Put-in-Bay! June 16-18Put-in-Bay Maritime Celebration with U.S. Brig NiagaraExplore the local history with the docking of the U.S. Brig Niagara on Put-in-Bay. Famously, this ship provided refuge for Oliver Hazard Perry after the ship he was commandeering took fire and began to sink. This vessel is one of the last remaining of those used during the Battle of 1812. The home port for the U.S. Brig Niagara is in Erie, Pennsylvania, but the crew makes appearances all around the country. This visit to Put-in-Bay is sponsored by the Jet Express and Lake Erie Shores & Islands Visitors' Center. Dockside tours will be available to the public as well as educational opportunities to learn more about this historic ship. For those seeking out a more memorable experience, there will be day sail tickets available for purchase on June 17th. This is a hands on experience that is limited to those individuals 12 years and older. Come and welcome the U.S. Brig Niagara during the Put-in-Bay Maritime Celebration. Don't give up the ship!
June 17-18The Put-In-Bay Wiffle Ball ClassicA new event is setting roots for the upcoming season: the Put-in-Bay Wiffle Ball Classic. Hosted by DC Sports Marketing, this event is sure to take hold and become a staple of the season. As if there are not enough great reasons to come and enjoy all that Put-in-Bay has to offer, a wiffle ball tournament can be added to that list. There will be varying leagues to include divisions for both young and old. The tournament is scheduled to be held on June 17th, with June 18th set in case of inclement weather. Do you have what it takes to be the inaugural winner of the Put-in-Bay Wiffle Ball Classic? Test your skills with a fun day on PIB with the newest event of the season. June 19-24Arts on Erie WeekGet cultured island style at Put-in-Bay with Arts on Erie Week. This family friendly event features a variety of programs at Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial. Participants can expect a hands on experience creating art and expanding the minds of our youth. The times for this event are from 11 am to 3 pm at the rear of the Visitors Center at the Monument. On June 24th the Put-in-Bay Arts Association is sponsoring an arts workshop and performance of the SMAG Dance Collective. This is a contemporary fusion dance company that prides itself on the vast variety of movements and locations where they perform. Bridging a gap between dancers, choreographers and the public is pivotal to their core values. Be sure to mark your calendars for an enriching opportunity on Put-in-Bay during Arts on Erie Week!
June 22-259th Annual Pyrate Fest Weekend at the BayAhoy mates! This event has quickly became one of the most sought after weekends of the Put-in-Bay season. Be sure to deck yourself out in pirate gear, as many come to the island in full regalia with hopes to win one of the costume contests going on. The biggest contest is sponsored by Cayman Island Airways, the Cobalt Blue Resort, DiveTech and the Cayman Islands Convention and Visitors Bureau. The grand prize winner receives an all expense paid trip to beautiful Cayman. There are also a great number of family friendly activities throughout the weekend. The Pyrate Village sets up in DeRiviera Park boasting a variety of attractions and vendors. Guests can expect over 50 re-enactors discussing old cooking methods, tactics and all things pirate. Be sure to set sail for Put-in-Bay during the Pyrate Fest Weekend. Batten down the hatches for a Lake Erie adventure.

JULY 2017

July 1Canada DayPut-in-Bay is only eight nautical miles from our friendly neighbors to the North, Canada. July 1st is the celebration of the formation of this country in 1867 via the British North America Act. Three colonies were combined to create what was known in the British empire as we know it today, Canada. The high season of Put-in-Bay is in full swing and the island will be abuzz with numerous activities. Stop by Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial, a National Monument which commemorates the lasting peace between the United States, Great Britain and Canada. Stop in one of the fine bars of Put-in-Bay and grab and icy cold Labatts or Molson. Nearly every weekend from June through August sells out completely, so booking early is highly recommended. Join us on PIB while we celebrate Dominion Day: Oh, Canada!
July 4Freedom ConcertWe as Americans enjoy liberties and freedoms that many countries in the developed World could only dream of. These freedoms have been fought for endlessly, with many men and women losing their lives along the way. Still, today we boast a country that is still the sought after refuge for those seeking the freedom to pursue a better life. There will be a concert performed by the Central Ohio Symphony that embodies the spirit of America. This event begins at 6:30 pm and is located on the rear patio of Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial. It is advised to arrive early as seating is purely on a first come first serve basis. Enjoy the Lake Erie breezes while listening to a wonderful live performance on Put-in-Bay at the Freedom Concert.
July 4Fourth of July FireworksPut-in-Bay is an outstanding location to celebrate the independence of our great nation. With a plethora of Victorian charm, rich history and welcoming atmosphere, Putinbay is as American as apple pie. Lake Erie provides a beautiful backdrop the the annual Fourth of July Fireworks. This show is sponsored in part by many businesses across Put-in-Bay, including the operator of this website. Grab a seat on the break wall or on the lawn of Perry's Monument, and be prepared for a fireworks display you won't soon forget. Show your American pride by bringing flags and dressing in red, white and blue. Be sure to plan ahead as this is a highly sought after event. The Fourth of July Weekend is one of the best of the entire Put-in-Bay season. Let freedom ring at Put-in-Bay this year!
July 8-9The Put-in-Bay Cup (Soccer Challenge)Use your head and join us for the annual Put-in-Bay Cup soccer tournament. This awesome event is sponsored by the 6v6 soccer tournament organization. The cost to register is $350 per team with the availability of payments to be made on their website. Put-in-Bay is an excellent location to hold such a tournament. Throughout your stay for the weekend you will be surrounded by a plethora of fun shops, restaurants and bars. This event has been popular since its inception, so booking both your home reservations and registering your team early is highly recommended if you wish to participate. Bicycle kick your way into a weekend you won't forget this year at the Put-in-Bay Cup!

This time of year we see the I-LYA Junior Sail Regatta where Junior Sailors compete for points towards national competition in various racing classes. There is also the Deep Water Sailing Races where skippers compete by classes at Put-in-Bay. Finally there is the I-LYA Senior Sailing Races which have been held for over 100 years with racers gathering at Put-in-Bay to race off the Western Shore. Races can be watched from the shore of Put-in-Bay. Stop by the downtown harbor for a colorful display of sails, and sleek racing craft.
July 21-23Christmas in JulyChristmas in July at Put-in-Bay is a one of a kind experience. Out of all the great weekends of each Summer season, none have a bigger draw nor have the notoriety of this awesome weekend. Bars, boats and businesses are decked out with lights and displays of Christmas cheer. You are likely to come across Santa Clause himself on vacation from the North Pole wandering around Put-in-Bay. Be sure to grab some of the Christmas themed drinks and dining specials found at many of the local establishments. There is a parade that comes through the downtown Put-in-Bay strip complete with Christmas themed floats. Due to the overwhelming popularity of this weekend it is highly recommended that travel and lodging arrangements are made in advance. Come to Christmas in July at Put-in-Bay, you'll be glad you did! July 26Put-in-Bay Garden Club Home and Garden TourJuly 27th meet at the Crews Nest Pavilion at 9:45am for check-in to see six beautiful properties featured on the PIB Garden Club Home & Garden Tour, including the Benson Ford Ship House. $35 for the Tour and Lunch. August 3-512th Annual Lake Erie Islands Historical Society's "Auction for History"The Lake Erie Islands Historical Society is hosting their annual auction to raise money to continue their efforts to preserve the history of Put-in-Bay and the neighboring islands. There is a great variety of items offered from island heirlooms to vehicles to boats. Come by and register to bid and do your part in preserving the history of our Great Lake islands. Participants are able to preview the live auction items prior to the start. This event can be incorporated into your plans during your early August trip to Put-in-Bay. August 5JF Walleyes 5KJust to the north of Put-in-Bay lies our sister island, Middle Bass. Here, All Sports Fundamentals is hosting the JF Walleyes 5k race. JF Walleyes is a bar and restaurant located a short walk from the Miller Ferry terminal. Enjoy sweeping views of Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial and panoramic vistas of Put-in-Bay from the shores of Middle Bass. The race will begin between the historic Lonz Winery and JF Walleyes. Participants will be taken on a course across the beautiful natural setting of Middle Bass Island, with the race concluding back at JF Walleyes. There will be a post race party complete with food and drinks! Guests staying on Put-in-Bay can opt to scuttle across Lake Erie via the Sonny S, which departs frequently from the Boardwalk Restaurant docks. See you on Middle Bass Island for the 36th Annual 5K!
August 5-12Island Green WeekIsland Green Week on Put-in-Bay and Middle Bass Islands this summer will make you remember what you loved most about the islands as a kid ? water, rocks, cliffs, caves, kayaking, meteor showers, moss, moonlit nights, beach bonfires, cozy camping, swimming, beach combing, cottaging with your family, ferry rides, staying the night at the lake and nature. Lets do it all over again during Island Green Week, August 5th through the 12th, 2017, on Middle Bass Island and Put-in-Bay in Lake Erie, Ohio. Three of the biggest organizations and proponents of nature on the Erie Isles have teamed together to bring you some great activities during this week-long event. Experience a taste of the unique wine culture, an island-style pig roast, kayaking a Great Lake, and a dedication of the newest lakefront nature preserve on Put-in-Bay. See wildlife, flora and fauna. Sail on a meteor shower cruise, and by special invitation explore, tour and hike island places people would not normally see. Island Green Week includes activities for adults, families and children. Special pricing and coupons for events, restaurants, transportation and entrance fees will be available for Green Week participants.
August 8Bartender OlympicsCANCELLED!!! (please check with management to see if it is rescheduled) Put-in-Bay is home to some of the best bartenders found anywhere. This event showcases them and pits them against one another in feats of their craft. Keg tossing, beer pouring and more are highlights from the challenges presented during the competition. The Master of Ceremony, Duff Spatafore is sure to delight with his zany antics and jokes. A fan favorite from this event is the creative floats that take part in the Bartender Olympic parade. Each stops at the Roundhouse Bar to deliver a fun-filled performance of a skit that relates to their float. A champion is crowned after a careful tally of each event. This is a chance for each establishment to show that they truly have the best bartenders on Put-in-Bay. If you have never attended this event, this is the year to check it out!

August 12Put-In-Bay "Classic" Volleyball TournamentA truly "classic" Volleyball tournament on the island. 30+ teams play a one day co-ed tournament on the Urge Family field across from PitStop Gas Station. August 18-2012th Annual Key West Days at Put-in-BayPut-in-Bay is often referred to as the Key West of the North. In fact, each February, some of the islands best entertainers head south for the annual Put-in-Bay Days in Key West. This event is held at the World Famous Sloppy Joe Bar. Key West Days at Put-in-Bay is the perfect response to the awesome PIB Days. Entertainers such as Pete and Wayne come to the Roundhouse Bar and with them bring some of that Key West flair. Many have argued that Put-in-Bay and Key West have a similar vibe and seem to put those who visit in an easy going mood. The Summer is rapidly coming to an end and the time has come to put an island in your life. Put-in-Bay is close to many, so come on over for Key West Days at PIB!
August 19Volleyball Battle on Put-In-BayPut-in-Bay is home to one of the areas best volleyball tournaments. Each year hundreds flock to the island to see if their team can match up with some of the tough competition. There are both competitive and fun leagues to satisfy the desires of all. Upon arrival competitors are invited to the Sandbar at Adventure Bay for registration and for a welcoming party. Starting in the morning on Saturday, the best of the best are ready to bump, set and spike their way to victory. Guests are encouraged to make their reservations early as this weekend is wildly popular. The Island Club and the Put-in-Bay Condos are excellent vacation rentals that accommodate your entire team. August 21Senior Citizens DayPut-in-Bay and the surrounding mainland communities rely heavily on tourism. Thus, this has created a large population of Summer residents who flock South in the Winter. "Snow Birds" as they are commonly known make up a sizable portion of the population of the Lake Erie North Coast. August 21st is Senior Citizens Day at Put-in-Bay to honor the more experienced among us. As the Summer nears the end, this day has been set aside to welcome our elders to Put-in-Bay. Be sure to visit before flying South!
August 275th Annual 3W2 FLY-INThere couldn't be a more appropriate handle for the airport at Put-in-Bay than 3W2, or 3 Whiskey 2. The logistics of island life have made planes a vital way of transport for many years. From the famed Tri-Motor plane to the machines of today, planes are still quite vital to the Put-in-Bay way of life. This unique event pairs two interesting aspects of Put-in-Bay life: the Antique Car Parade and the island pilot lifestyle. The Antique Car Parade finishes its route at the airport to join the pilots that fly in for a pig roast. Please note that the airport is closed from dusk to dawn. There will be no parking fees for those attending the event, however standard parking rates apply for overnight guests. Jet set your way to Put-in-Bay for the 4th Annual 3W2 Fly-in!
August 27-309th Annual Put-in-Bay Road Race ReunionThe Put-in-Bay Road Race Reunion pays homage to the races that were held on the island from 1952-1959 and again in 1963. These races, sponsored by the Cleveland Sports Car Club, were held on the roads of Put-in-Bay and consisted of over 100 small bore race cars. The drivers were all amateurs, giving those who wished to try out racing an opportunity to do so. Incredibly, there are no accounts of drivers or spectators being injured during the duration of the races. Now, to bring some of the original adrenaline back into the equation, racers compete on the grounds of the Put-in-Bay Airport. Spectators line the fence surrounding the strip and watch the cars whiz by. The roar of the engines can be heard reverberating across Put-in-Bay. This event is a must attend for the season. The number of cars has grown immensely over the course of the years of the reunion. The checkered flag will be waiving at the 8th Annual Put-in-Bay Road Race Reunion, join in on the fun.

SEPTEMBER 2017

September 2-5Annual Labor Day Bash at the Bay WeekendThe Summer is winding down; have you made a trip to Put-in-Bay yet? Come to PIB for one of the best Labor Day celebrations around. There are great deals on lodging for the duration of the long weekend. Expect some the best Put-in-Bay entertainers during this weekend as bars vow to pull you in over this exciting weekend. Your work hard all year and deserve to treat yourself to a great time over this awesome holiday. The Antique Car Parade will hold its normal Sunday parade and an additional parade on Monday. This unique Put-in-Bay event involves a great number of classic car enthusiasts who come together each week for fellowship and to talk about all things cars. Be sure to catch one of the parades over the weekend and see everything from Model T's to a fleet of Cadillac convertibles. See you at Put-in-Bay over Labor Day Weekend!
September 8-10Put-in-Bay Historical WeekendPut-in-Bay is teeming with great historical significance. Most notably, the Battle of Lake Erie in which Oliver Hazard Perry commanded a victory over the British fleet. This was pivotal in securing present day Ohio and Michigan to the United States. Historical Weekend celebrates this event, as well as other important events. This weekend also features the annual Boy Scouts of America Camp-o-ree. Over 1,500 Boy Scouts come to the island for a weekend of camping and camaraderie at Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial. There will be a parade on Saturday featuring high school marching bands and the Boy Scout Troops. Come learn something new about Put-in-Bay this year during Historical Weekend.
September 9Art In The ParkImmerse yourself in the local culture with Art in the Park at Put-in-Bay. Local and regional artists converge on the island to display their works and offer them for sale. Guests can expect a wide range of offerings from handicrafts to paintings. Unique items are to be found that will be an excellent addition to your home. It is never to early to begin shopping for Christmas, and during Art in the Park you'll have the opportunity to purchase that special gift that will be truly unique. There will be live demonstrations throughout the day. The Put-in-Bay Arts council is sponsoring this event. They will be holding a silent auction from 10 am through 5 pm.
September 10Grand ParadeThe grand finale of Historical Weekend is the Grand Parade on Saturday. This will comprise of over 1,500 Boy Scouts, high school marching bands, twirling groups and more. Come and catch a spot on Delaware Avenue in downtown Put-in-Bay for an excellent vantage point. The island is abuzz with the youth coming across to participate. In addition to the youth, there will also be War of 1812 re enactors and the Captain of the USS Lake Erie in attendance. If you can't make it to stay for the whole weekend, be sure not to miss the Grand Parade. Historical Weekend at Put-in-Bay is a wonderful event with things to do for the entire family.
September 10Muffins vs. Mossbacks Historical Baseball GameEach year at the Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church field on Put-in-Bay there is this great baseball match. The Muffins are the Ohio Historical Society's historical baseball team. They come to the island to play the home team, the Put-in-Bay Mossbacks. The game is played using the original rules from the game of baseball. Period correct uniforms and equipment are used to give the game the feel it is being played in the 1800s. The Lake Erie Historical Society will be on site offering refreshments for sale to spectators. This conclusion of Put-in-Bay Historical Weekend is proudly sponsored by the Miller Boat Line.
September 15-1644th Annual New Year's at the BAY!!Put-in-Bay is all buttoned up as the ice surrounds the island in the Winter months. Especially around the time the New Year is set to ring in each year. So, to take some of the energy and excitement of the New Year and inject into the PIB season, New Year's at the Bay was created. Also known as Boater's New Years, this fun weekend is worth experiencing. The downtown Put-in-Bay area transforms into a gaming area complete with Monte Carlo style offerings. This event is one the largest fundraiser of the year for the Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce. Bring some friends and ring in the New Year at the 43rd Annual New Year's at the Bay!
September 15-16Half-Way To St. Patty's DayMuch like Christmas in July and New Years at the Bay, Half Way to St. Patty's Day is our chance to celebrate a holiday that resides outside the normal Put-in-Bay season. Suit yourself up in green and feel the luck of the luck of the Irish on the Emerald Isle of Lake Erie, Put-in-Bay. Hooligan's Irish Pub on Catawba Avenue is the official headquarters for this great event. Stop in for a perfectly pulled Guinness or start your day off with an Irish Car Bomb. There is a festive parade on Saturday, complete with golf carts decked out in all things green. The weekends following Labor Day on Put-in-Bay are always a great choice. They tend to have cheaper rental rates, less crowds and an overall great group of people heading to the island. If you have yet to put an island in your life, try Half-Way to St. Patty's Day at Put-in-Bay this year!
September 1614th Annual Miller Boat Line 5K RaceThe setting of Put-in-Bay is ideal for a 5K race with the ample shoreline and views spanning across Lake Erie. The Miller Boat Line is proud to host this 13th running of the race. There are over 800 runners who participate each year. Those who join can expect to be treated to special discounts and offers all across Put-in-Bay. The race course takes runners through downtown Put-in-Bay, past the historic Heineman's Winery and along the scenic shoreline of PIB. September 1642nd Annual Put-in-Bay Fire Department ClambakeCome out and support the brave Men and Women who protect and serve the residents and visitors to Put-in-Bay. This annual event is designed to raise funds for the Put-in-Bay Volunteer Fire Department in order to update equipment. Dinner include a 1/4 Chicken, Clams and much more. It is highly advised to purchase tickets in advance as this event is known to sellout. This is such a worthy cause that happens to be delicious too! September 23Put-in-Bay Volunteer Fire Departments 5 Alarm Texas Hold Em TournamentGo all in with your pocket pair this year at the Put-in-Bay Volunteer Fire Departments Texas Hold Em Card Tournament. This annual event is a fundraiser for the department, with hopes to raise monies for equipment upgrades. Participants are encouraged to arrive for the tournament by 6 pm to take part in the action. One of our very own, Jay Gore, a taxi driver with Island Club taxi, has been in the top 2, for the past two years. Come and take his crown and retain some bragging rights for yourself during the Put-in-Bay Volunteer Fire Departments 5 Alarm Hold Em Tournament.

October 6-7Putinbay.com's 19th Annual Put-in-Bay Fall Ball Customer Appreciation Weekend!We are so happy that you have chosen Put-in-Bay as your preferred destination. October 713th Annual Island Wine FestivalThere has been a long standing of history of grape growing and wine production on Put-in-Bay. In fact, the region lies on the same latitude lines as the famed wine making regions in France. Also, because of the temperate environment of being on an island, the growing season is extended.
